New Jersey FCCLA never ceases to amaze, with its outstanding members and dedicated advisers.  One chapter that
epitomizes this statement is the Shawnee High School FCCLA, a chapter that is devoted to serving their community
and educating others about "The Ultimate Leadership Experience."  Shawnee High School does it all while having fun!

Over the past 3 years as an affiliated chapter, Shawnee FCCLA devoted their time to several heart-warming
community service projects.  One example is their "HUGS" pillows project, where the chapter constructed and
hand-embroidered huggable pillows, which they delivered to the pediatrics unit at Virtua Hospital in Voorhees, New
Jersey.  They also planned, organized, and facilitated all of the activities for "Safe Trick or Treat", an event where local
children trick or treat through the high school the Saturday before Halloween. Earlier in the year, the chapter
participated in Read Across America, inspiring literacy in children.  In addition, Shawnee High School FCCLA  has
been a major contributor to the NJ FCCLA Community Service efforts, allowing New Jersey to bring several Feed the
Children trucks into Camden.  It seems that this chapter never stops helping others, as their work benefits so many in
their area!

Yet the biggest accomplishment that the chapter saw over the past three years was their success with educating people
in their school and community about FCCLA. Through their involvement in numerous service projects, they publicized
their work in their local and school newspaper, morning announcements, e-boards, posters, and their amazing chapter
website.

It is hard to believe that a chapter that has done so much for others is one of the newest chapters in the state
association! Shawnee FCCLA was established in September 2007.  Image the surprise of their adviser, Mrs. Kathleen
Ware, who hoped to get at least nine members affiliated, when she saw her membership grow to forty-two in the first
year! Now, not only do they have one chapter affiliated, but they have created a second chapter as well!

Congratulations and best of luck to Shawnee High School FCCLA! Keep up the good work!
